Celebrities Opening Up About Co-Parenting During the 2024 Holidays
Dealing with your ex can be difficult no matter the time of year, but the holidays often bring a unique set of challenges.
During her December episode of the “Whine Down” podcast, Jana Kramer Admits she is “trying” to make Christmas Eve plans as her two eldest children – daughter Julie, 8, and son Jess, 6 – spend the holiday with her ex-husband Mike Caussin.
“I’ve started to get frustrated about it. Because, you know, baking cookies before Santa comes – I can’t do anything,” Kramer said. “I can’t make cookies with them, I can’t leave out the note [for Santa] the night before. I can’t leave carrots for the reindeer, and I can’t leave the reindeer’s food out. …This might be the last year Julie writes to Santa.

“Any divorced parent can relate to this and understand this: I didn’t [my kids] Thanksgiving this year, so I did prepare them on Christmas Day, Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, and honestly, I prefer those,” she explained. “That’s fine, but I haven’t had them for a week. [On] They went to Jay’s house at noon on Christmas Day and I didn’t receive them until the next day [of January]”.
Cavallari noted that she normally fills her time away from her kids by traveling, but this year she plans to relax at home and prepare for her upcoming podcast tour.
“One day I’m going to have microneedling, one day I’m going to have a facial. I’m going to have coffee with a girlfriend I haven’t seen in a while. I’m in this rest and self-care mode,” she said. “I just want to relax.”
Tariq El Moussa and Christina Hall
This year, the HGTV stars spent Christmas Eve together as a way to shake off the co-parenting blues. Tariq’s wife, Heather Rae El Moussaexclusively informed us weekly Plans for blended families.

“We’re following our schedule,” Jesse, who shares 4-year-old daughter Isabella with Michelle, exclusively tells Us us December. “Unfortunately, this year, Michelle’s mom passed away right before Thanksgiving. Lynsey Chrisley and Will Campbell
Chrisley’s holiday spirit has been dampened by the fact that her 11-year-old son Jackson will be spending Christmas with her ex-husband Campbell.
“I don’t have a tree, I don’t have a tree,” she said on a December episode. Kailyn Lowry’s “Coffee Convos” podcast. “I don’t have Jackson for Christmas, so I won’t be doing it.”

“You don’t have to worry about doing all these things, but it’s also sad. And, no matter how many years it goes, it’s still sad. It’s lonely,” she said. “Then you just hope it’s over soon.”
Linsey added that when she spent Christmas with Jackson in 2023, she allowed him to visit Campbell and his grandparents on Christmas night. Her ex clearly won’t be returning the favor this year.
“This year, it’s Will’s Christmas, and he’s not going to offer me the same thing that I offered him last year. Why? I don’t know,” she said. “I had to learn through therapy that I had to respect the choices he made within the time allotted. Just because I chose to do something to make my child better, didn’t mean he had to choose the same matter.

Kramer and Cousin’s two children will be with Cousin this Christmas Eve because Kramer took them with him for Christmas last year. The last time Kramer left the kids on Christmas Eve, the family only celebrated Christmas on December 26, which led to some friction with Cousin.
“My ex and I fought about this because he [was] Like, ‘You can’t change Christmas.’ I was like, ‘You can’t tell me what to do,'” she recalled on her “Whine Down” podcast in December.
Kramer and her husband have 13-month-old son Roman Alan Russellsaying that even if she could go to Cousin’s house on Christmas Eve, she wouldn’t want to.
“It doesn’t feel good to me,” she said. “Anytime I still go to his house to pick up the kids, I don’t like it. … I don’t like being [there]. … He makes himself feel welcome and comfortable here and I won’t step foot in his place.
In addition to her own discomfort, Kramer said she didn’t want to intrude on Cousin’s time with Julie and Jess.
“Those are his memories. I wouldn’t invite him to do this with us,” she admitted. “As much as I try to create a good atmosphere for everyone and invite him to the party … I don’t want him decorating cookies here on our family night.”
Kramer did, however, text Cousin asking about attending Christmas Eve church services with his children, but said he “hasn’t gotten back” to her.
Hoda Kotb and Joel Schiffman
In the program aired on December 24 Today with Hoda and JennaKotb revealed that her ex-fiancé will be included in her family’s Christmas 2024 plans. “For us, our Christmas doesn’t matter because it’s me, my kids, my mom, my sister Joel. We’re all together,” she shared. (The exes, who split in January 2022, share daughters Hailey, 7, and Hope, 5.)
She continued: “This is the group, it’s just a cozy Christmas. So, tonight we’re going to have cookies for Santa and carrots. He always seems to prefer cookies.
Earlier that month, Kotb teased Schiffman via Instagram for attending her holiday celebration. In a photo of her family’s Christmas stockings, a stocking named “Daddy” can be seen hanging above the fireplace in Kotb’s living room.
