Warriors player Stephen Curry admits he will eventually retire

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry remains one of the most recognizable figures in the NBA.

While Curry continues to perform at a high level on the basketball court, he is also 36 years old and will end his 16th season in the league next spring. While the four-time NBA champion admits he’s much closer to the end of his career than the beginning, Curry said he’s able to enjoy life in the moment.

“More than I probably had before,” he said of his NBA future in an interview with ESPN. “I think, you know, it’s okay to accept and acknowledge that the end is coming at any time. But just because it allows you to enjoy what’s happening right now. But I think the more you talk about it, the more you acknowledge it. It, it heightens the urgency of the moment.

While Curry didn’t put a specific number on the number of seasons he has left, he made it clear that his desire to win remains strong.

Dennis Schroder says his son approved trade with Warriors: ‘It’s a good team now’

“It’s a matter of admitting, well, I and [Warriors teammate] Draymond [Green] We are in our prime. You know, we’re in a situation where you have to think about the game differently. But if you don’t win, the answer is, “How do we make this happen for me?” I only have a certain number of years left and I desperately want to win. What helps me, helps us. So, yeah, it’s an interesting term because people say it, and what’s the real answer? We are working hard to resolve this issue,” he said.

Last season, the Warriors failed miserably in the NBA qualifying rounds and ultimately failed to enter the playoffs. Curry and his teammates hope to avoid a repeat of the same mistakes this season, and the February trade deadline could be crucial to their hopes for the 2024-25 season.

The Christmas Day game between the Warriors and Lakers is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET.
