Tesla Supercharger Network to Become Available to Hyundai Electric Vehicle Owners Starting in Q1 2025 – Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA ), Hyundai Motor (OTC: HYMTF )
Hyundai Motor America, Inc. HYMTF The company said on Monday that existing electric vehicle owners will receive free adapter charging. Tesla Inc. Tesla The Supercharger network will be completed in the first quarter of 2025.
What happened: The company says the adapters will allow modern electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicles at more than 20,000 Tesla Superchargers in the United States. The adapter can also be purchased at authorized dealers, it added.
Owners of 2024 and earlier model KONA electric, Ioniq, Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 and 2025 Ioniq 6, Ioniq 5N and Kona electric will be eligible for a free adapter.
These vehicles have Combined Charging System (CCS) charging ports that require the use of an adapter to charge on the Tesla Supercharger network equipped with the North American Charging Standard (NACS).
Why it’s important: Hyundai America’s 2025 Ioniq 5 comes with a NACS port, meaning it doesn’t require an adapter to charge on Tesla’s Supercharger network.
In October 2023, Tesla CEO Musk Expressing its belief that widespread adoption of Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS) by all major automakers is “inevitable.”
Several automakers, including Ford, General Motors and Rivian Automotive, have signed up to adopt Tesla’s charging standard.
According to Tesla, its Superchargers account for three of the four fast chargers in North America.
