Man burned to death on New York subway

A woman was set on fire on a subway train in Brooklyn, New York, on Sunday, a horrific and disturbing crime that has police looking for a suspect.

The New York City Police Department (NYPD) said the incident occurred at about 7:30 a.m. at the Stillwell Avenue subway station in Coney Island.

Police said the woman was sleeping on the stationary “F” train.

Police say an unidentified man approached the woman and set her on fire before exiting the subway car.

The emergency center pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

Horrifying videos posted online showed the woman standing on the train being engulfed in flames. A man matching the suspect’s description sat on a bench outside the train and watched as the woman was burned.

Police are looking for a man who is 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 150 pounds, and is approximately 25 to 30 years old.

Police said the suspect was last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, a dark beanie with a red band and brown boots.

NYPD Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to this incident.
