Apple develops Face ID smart doorbell, expected to unlock doors by the end of 2025 – Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)

According to Bloomberg Mark Gurman In his “Power On” newsletter, the innovative device could be released “as soon as possible” by the end of 2025.

The smart lock system functions similarly to an iPhone, unlocking the door when a registered user or resident is recognized by a camera. Apple plans to integrate its Secure Enclave chip, which can securely store and process Face ID data independently of other hardware, ensuring high security.

Gurman said in his post that the device may work with third-party smart locks that support HomeKit. Apple may also work with smart lock manufacturers to provide complete systems at launch.

In addition, the doorbell camera is expected to use Apple’s in-house “Proxima” chip, a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination that will be used in HomePod Mini and Apple TV models due out next year.

“Next year, Apple will also launch upgrades to existing home devices: TV top boxes and HomePod mini smart speakers. This will add an advanced wireless chip called Proxima and better support the new Thread standard for home wireless connectivity products.

The doorbell camera is part of Apple’s broader push into smart home technology under its Apple Intelligence program. Rumored products include new smart home cameras, Apple-branded TVs and smart displays.

The displays are said to include an iPad-like device that can be magnetically attached to a wall mount or speaker base, and another device equipped with a robotic arm for enhanced flexibility.

Apple’s continued expansion of smart home solutions signals its commitment to creating a cohesive ecosystem of devices designed to improve daily life through seamless integration and advanced security.
