Chris Christie predicts what could lead to the demise of Musk-Trump bromance
Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says Elon Musk’s close relationship with President-elect Donald Trump will eventually come to an end.
The Republican lawmaker, who once supported Trump but became one of the only Republicans in the party to oppose him, believes Trump’s blame game tactics will lead to the row.
In an interview with ABC News’ Jonathan Carr on Sunday, he said: “When Trump thinks something is wrong and he needs someone to blame, that’s when it ends and Musk becomes the one to blame. .
Christie clarified, “No one knows how long this will take.”
The two billionaires have grown closer this year after Musk’s staunch support of Trump, from creating a super PAC to hosting political rallies for him.
“Sometimes it’s hard for people to understand how intoxicating this is for some people,” Christie said on ABC.
Just this week, Musk demonstrated his influence in Trump’s second term after scuttling a proposed bipartisan spending bill and risking a government shutdown. An agreement was not reached until the final hours before the deadline, after both bills failed.
“The people who sit in the middle with Trump have a shelf life, and that shelf life is affected by external events, as Speaker Johnson is now discovering,” the former governor said.
Many Democrats poke fun at the two, saying Musk is the real president in the relationship.
“The political and legacy media puppets were given new instructions yesterday and are now repeating the same messages to drive a wedge between @realDonaldTrump and me,” Musk wrote ahead of the introduction of the bill that passed Friday. “They will fail.”
