Hilary Duff Breaks Her Favorite Holiday Family Tradition
Hillary Duff Even though her family will be spending Christmas on the road, she’s still trying to keep family traditions alive this holiday season.
“We’re actually going on a trip this Christmas, which is so exciting.” Duff, 37, said in the latest issue of ” US Weekly. “I guess I love the whole process of the holidays. I know it’s chaotic, but I really love being in town and all the festivities, like, we’re going down a holiday road, we’re picking out our Christmas tree, we always Playing tag on the Christmas tree is one of my favorite family activities.
One of Dove’s personal holiday traditions happens when her kids are out and about. “We put the tree together, and then once the kids go to school, I change out all the decorations and put them where they really belong,” she quips.
Duff shares her eldest child, 12-year-old son Luca, with her ex-husband Mike Comrie. She and her husband, Matthew Comaa year before their wedding in 2019, they welcomed their first child, 6-year-old daughter Banks. The Koma welcomed their third child, daughter Townes, on May 3.
This year, Duff is introducing a new tradition that the whole family can enjoy together. “We’ve been drinking hot cocoa and taking night swims,” she revealed. “It’s kind of spoiled because we heated the pool so it gets really warm, but we do night swims in there and drink cocoa. Sometimes I’ll have a glass of red wine. It’s really fun. We try to do it during the week , which took the kids about 30 minutes, but the kids thought it was special and not a normal night here.
She added: “We traveled on Christmas Day and went skiing and that was it for the holidays.”
While the holidays are full of excitement, they can also bring stress, especially for parents. “It’s a heavy burden on mothers,” Duff said. us. “I wake up in the middle of the night and think, ‘Oh, I have these things that I can’t handle.'” … So, I’m slowly but surely getting ready, [am] Absolutely excited. I absolutely love the holidays, but now as an adult, it’s wonderful to make this holiday magical for so many people.
To help keep things organized, Duff is working with Meta AI, which she describes as a “thought partner.”
She explained: “It’s just something you can gush about and express your thoughts, and here it comes [up] Have ideas. … [If] I’m a little stale with how I normally handle this part of the holidays, what can I do? or [it can] Help me put these lists together. ‘I’ve done that. What can I add? I’m going to this part of town. Surprisingly, we have this assistant for those who don’t have access to a regular assistant. One day I had to bring an appetizer and I was like, ‘I have this, this and this. What can I do with it? This helps me.
She went on to joke: “I have a personal assistant and I even need it.”
