Ravens cut Pro Bowl receiver Deontae Johnson after drama-filled tenure
The ugly marriage between the Baltimore Ravens and Deontae Johnson is over.
The Ravens acquired Johnson in October hoping to shake up their already potent offense.
Johnson didn’t do anything and he was cut by the team on Friday.
The deal was a disaster from the start. In his first game with the team, Johnson held just six catches for just six yards. As it turned out, that was his only gain on the team.

The Ravens suspended Johnson earlier this month, saying he refused to play against the Philadelphia Eagles. The Ravens banned him from practice earlier this week.
Of course, Johnson must be relieved that he was traded from the lowly Carolina Panthers to a true Super Bowl contender. Now, he appears to be looking for a third team in as many months.

Johnson played in just four games for the Ravens.
The Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers on Saturday, so it’s telling that the Ravens waived him about 24 hours before an AFC North game that could determine playoff seeding.
Baltimore didn’t lose much in the original trade, giving up a fifth-round pick.
Johnson’s role in Todd Monken’s offense was in question before the loss to the Eagles, and again after Rashod Bateman missed the game with a knee injury.

In 39 snaps for the Ravens, Johnson had just one catch for 6 yards, although he panthers‘ Leading receivers through first seven games of the season.
