Trump tries new hairstyle, gets mixed reviews
Donald Trump appears to have unveiled a new look, but the reviews on social media have been less than enthusiastic.
Trump’s signature hairstyle — a blond, exaggerated, tight bob — has been an iconic part of his brand long before he entered politics.
But new footage of the president-elect circulating on social media appears to show him taking a completely different approach. In a video posted by a Trump supporter at his golf club in Palm Beach, his mane appears to be tighter and more closely trimmed at the sides than at his last press conference.
It’s unclear whether the shift is due to a new cut, an alternative styling routine or a compression of Trump’s signature red MAGA hat.
Trump’s representatives did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment on the president-elect’s new look.
Regardless, social media users immediately weighed in on the apparent style shift.
User @Bricktop_NAFO compared his look to Buzz McCallister, the tarantula-owning brother from the ’90s movie home alone.
“Trump cut his hair and now he looks like an angry grandpa at the country club,” @keatonmerrell commented. “He seems to be tolerant of oranges, too.”
While most of the comments were derisive, at least one X user was impressed by Trump’s appearance. “Looking good Mr. President!!!” wrote @nikhilgawde72.
This isn’t the first time there’s been speculation about whether Trump has changed his standard hairstyle. In 2019, with his hair slicked back, he appeared at a solemn church service to honor victims of mass shootings.
But it wasn’t long before his characteristic shaggy mane returned.
