Former NFL star Michael Vick accepts college football head coaching job: Report
Michael Vick is reportedly set to become the college football head coach.
The former NFL star quarterback will take over as the head coach of the Norfolk State University football program, the Virginian-Pilot reported.
Vick told the media on Monday that he was discussing the possibility of taking over the project.
“I know how to lead and I know what needs to be done,” he told the newspaper.
Vick has also been linked to another college head coaching vacancy at Sacramento State, according to ESPN.

“He expressed interest in the position, and yes, I did meet with him to discuss his interest in Sac State football and the rise of our athletics. However, the Sacramento Bee reported that Vick was not a candidate for the position, citing an unnamed “member of the school’s athletic department” who said the ESPN report was just a rumor.
Vick spent his college career at Virginia Tech from 1998 to 2000, where he was named a first-team All-American in 1999. , becoming one of the top young stars in the sport.

Vick was the cover athlete for EA Sports’ 2004 Madden NFL.
But Vick’s career and reputation took a dark turn in 2007.
Vick was jailed for nearly two years after pleading guilty to funding a dog-fighting operation, which also caused him to miss the 2006 and 2007 seasons.

Vick began his foray into coaching in the summer of 2017, when he joined the Kansas City Chiefs and his former Eagles head coach Andy Reid as an intern. After training camp that year, he joined Fox’s NFL as an analyst.
In April 2018, Vick was hired as the offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Legends of the NFL. However, shortly before the season began, head coach Kevin Coyle announced that Vick would no longer serve as offensive coordinator and would remain with the team as a consultant.
Vick has never coached at the college level, but he now has a chance to help turn the program around after a 4-8 season in 2024.
