Texas father suspected of setting fire to house with 3 children inside

A Texas father is accused of intentionally setting fire to his home while his three children were inside, according to police.

Pedro Luis Parra Pulgar, 46, was charged with three counts of attempted murder. His bond was set at $2.25 million.

Police said the fire occurred on November 6 at 31619 El Dorado Lane in the Polo Ranch community of Falls Hill, Texas.

The suspect was seriously injured in the fire and spent a long time in the hospital before being released Thursday. He was later booked into the Fort Bend County Jail.

Police said the fire caused extensive damage to the home and emergency crews were rushed to the scene.

Two children managed to escape the home with minor injuries, but a third, a three-year-old child, remains trapped.

Officers heard faint sounds coming from inside the home, entered through a bedroom window and rescued the child.

The child suffered severe smoke inhalation and was airlifted to a nearby hospital and has since been released.
