Jesse Tyler Ferguson and husband Justin Mikita were ‘overbearing’ parents
jesse tyler ferguson know him and his husband, Justin Mikitacan be the “overbearing” parent to their two sons, Beckett, 4, and Sullivan, 2.
“I loved seeing the early connection between Beckett and Sullivan and seeing them play together and seeing their collective opinions on Justin and me,” Ferguson, 49, said exclusively. US Weekly while promoting his partnership with Tovara. “You know, we can be a little overbearing sometimes and we want to hug them and snuggle them.”
He added, “Overall, they’ve all been like, ‘Okay, enough is enough, come back, and together we think you guys are a little bit unstoppable.'” I love that they’ve drawn a line in the sand together around us. This is really sweet. I’m so happy that they have each other for the rest of their lives.
this modern family alumna and Mikita, 39, welcomed Beckett and Sullivan via surrogate in 2020 and 2022, respectively. Ferguson, in particular, is glad his two sons can lean on each other.
“I love my brothers and sisters,” Ferguson, who has a brother and a sister, told us. “It’s great to have people my own age who can sympathize with my crazy parents. That’s so important.
Beckett and Sullivan’s early relationship also influenced the way the family of four celebrated holidays.
“We’re figuring that out as we go along. I love the idea of them having their own little Christmas tree to decorate,” Ferguson said. “We’re going to put this tree in their [playroom] This year, if it’s a really ugly tree, we can close the door. All I care about is aesthetics.
He added: “They are decorating their own tree. It will be in their own little space.
Beckett is also very excited about Santa’s arrival.
“Beckett really loves Santa. In fact, last year we had a Christmas party and Santa actually came to visit and Beckett was really excited about Santa coming to his house and wanted to show Santa his playroom and wanted to show Santa his bedroom,” Ferguson recalled us. “When I was a kid, I was scared of Santa, like, I didn’t want to sit on a stranger’s lap. Beckett just hugged Santa. Sullivan, I’m not so sure yet [whether] He would… you know, he didn’t even like us wearing Halloween costumes. This year we came out in our Halloween costumes and he said, “Take them off.” So, let’s see how Santa goes.
Beckett and Sullivan also have very different eating habits, so the Ferguson-Mikita family’s chef, Ferguson, turned to a Tovala smart oven to cook meals they both enjoy.
“I’m very busy right now because I have two kids; I have this [‘Dinner’s on Me’] Podcast,” he said. “Sometimes I need to cook for my family [and] I need to do something simple. I love that it makes dinner time a time where I don’t have to stress.
He added, “I don’t like just putting meals in the microwave. … It can be healthy or it can be a little naughty, like, their desserts are delicious, too. So I like that. It gives me options. Eating healthy when I feel like it, eating a little more luxuriously, and it tastes incredible.
