West Virginia’s players didn’t get a chance to carry retired coach Randy Mazer on his shoulders as they celebrated reaching the College World Series for the first time in program history. But Mazey’s final ride was still magical, when it ended with a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to North Carolina in the Super Regional in Chapel Hill — oh, so close to the promised land of Omaha — Climb The Rangers celebrated their outgoing coach and each other, between tears and bittersweet smiles.
