Dodgers sign Blake Trenin

Dodgers reach agreement with right-hander Blake Trenin According to a report by KPRC2’s Ari Alexander, the company signed a two-year deal worth $22MM.

Trenin, 36, has been the Dodgers’ most productive reliever this year. Despite his fastball gliding nearly three miles per hour, he posted stellar numbers with a 1.93 ERA, 30.4 K%, 6.0 BB% and 44.7% ground ball rate in 46 2/3 innings. Trenin has been with the Dodgers since signing a one-year, $10MM deal five years ago after the Dodgers didn’t tender him an offer.

Trenin has logged 149 2/3 regular season innings for the Dodgers, adding an additional 33 1/3 innings in four different postseasons. He remained Dodger manager Dave Roberts’ go-to reliever during tough times as the Dodgers climbed through the postseason and won the championship. He has appeared in nine games this postseason, including five with three or more shutouts. Trenin was the winning pitcher in the deciding game of Game 5 of the World Series against the Yankees, coming through 2 1/3 scoreless innings.
