If you randomly scrolled through any streaming service while blindfolded and pressed the play button 30 seconds after scrolling, there’s a good chance you’ve just pressed play on a movie about useful AI gone bad. Hundreds of movies follow this basic plot, and Netflix’s latest streaming hit, surrender, Strive to stand out. It is, thanks to Megan Fox’s performance.

Megan Fox was born to play evil robots
From the moment you click play surrenderyou know where it’s going, and the first half doesn’t change the classic formula we’ve come to expect. Michele Morrone, erotic thriller from Netflix Chapter 365 The series follows Nick, a husband and father trying to keep his family together, and his wife Maggie, played by Madelina Zima (she plays Grace, Sheffield’s youngest children) nannyjust in case you need to feel old today) is in the hospital undergoing heart surgery. If the movie had stuck to the “accidental” sequence around the house, it might have been funnier, but instead, surrender Trying to do a little too much. There’s a subplot about Nick’s dealings with upset workers over the introduction of the Sims, a truly bizarre scene where Alice seduces Nick with Maggie’s voice, and a hint at more potential movies ’s wild teases undercut all the tense moments of a super-powerful killer robot.
Megan Fox is great, but the rest of the movie…
While Megan Fox plays the evil artificial intelligence, Michelle Morrone’s performance is lackluster. surrender. Weirdly, this kind of works because Nick isn’t supposed to be a good guy, at least I don’t think he is. With multiple erotic thrillers under his belt, Morrone is becoming Netflix’s version of Michael Douglas, and when he appears in any movie, you know he’s playing a scumbag.
With a different leading man and more focus on the parts of the movie that actually work, surrender Might become a future hit, but for now, it’s a good movie to stream when there’s nothing else to watch. On Rotten Tomatoes, critics haven’t been kind; at the time of writing, 50% of the 30 reviews are rotten, and the fan score from more than 250 reviews isn’t much better, at just 53%. However, it was also Netflix’s No. 1 movie in its opening weekend in the United States.
It’s 30 years too late to give in
if surrender Released on HBO in 1994, it is sure to be a hit. Unfortunately, it’s 2024, and aside from a few creepy moments (all thanks to Megan Fox deciding to absolutely become a killer robot), it’s completely forgettable today.

If you really want to see another evil AI movie M3GAN 2.0 Come out and you do worse. If nothing else, Fox appears to be embracing her new career as a streaming movie villain. She’s willing to take some risks, but maybe next time, she’ll have a more exciting script.
