The “secret” to hitting high-spin pitches
Parker McLachlin, a golf instructor to watch

If you want your pitches to spin high and soft, I have a master tip. In theory, it’s fun to spin it like a pro, but actually doing it requires good fundamentals.
That’s what I mean.
First, you have to keep the shaft lean fairly neutral, and the clubface has to be slightly open at setup. Secondly, the length of the backswing must be a little longer than usual. I’d also recommend using some wrist hinges so there’s a bit of release onto the ball.
The key is to use a softer grip, so drop it from 10 to about 4.
Finally, to get the funky action you want, you need to provide some speed about a foot before impact, which will allow you to pull off the high-spin shots you see on tour.
