Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu wishes Christians around the world a Merry Christmas

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wished Christians around the world a Merry Christmas and thanked the Christian community for its support in the Jewish state’s ongoing conflict with terrorist groups.

On Christmas Eve, Netanyahu posted a video message on his account on the social media platform X.

“My dear Christian friends, as you gather with family and friends this Christmas, I wish the Christian community in Israel and around the world a Merry Christmas in the Holy Land,” he said.

This comes after Israeli forces were involved in ongoing conflicts with terrorist groups such as Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon following a Hamas raid on October 7, 2023, which resulted in Israeli military retaliation.

“As Israel fights on seven fronts, we are deeply grateful for the unwavering support of our Christian friends around the world. You have stood tenaciously, consistently, and powerfully by our side as Israel defends our territory. Civilization against barbarism,” said Nei. Tanyahu said.

“The people of Israel are united to defend our country against those bent on our destruction,” he continued. “We seek peace with all who wish to make peace with us, but we will take all necessary measures to defend the only Jewish state, the repository and source of our common heritage.”

According to the Israel Central Bureau of Statistics, there are more than 180,000 Christians in Israel, accounting for about 1.8% of the country’s population of more than 9.9 million.

The Christian population increased by 0.6% last year.

“Israel is a world leader in fighting the forces of evil and tyranny, but our battle is not over yet,” the Prime Minister said. “I assure you that with your support and God’s help, we will prevail. I am at peace The city of Jerusalem wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”
