Suspect killed after driving truck into Texas mall
A man drove a pickup truck through the glass door of a JC Penney store in Texas, injuring at least five people and killing one suspect, police said.
The incident occurred Saturday night, just days before Christmas, at the Killeen Mall in Killeen, Texas, about 70 miles north of Austin.
During a news conference Saturday night, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said the truck drove “hundreds of yards” past the JC Penney store entrance.
Sergeant Washko said the driver “actively ran over” customers, leaving frightened shoppers injured and five people taking themselves to hospital. The injured ranged in age from 6 to 75, he said.
