A Christmas movie that’s not strictly a Christmas movie
Move over, home alone! There’s no shortage of movies to watch over Christmas, but there’s plenty more to add to your queue it’s a wonderful life, Miracle on 34th Street or A Christmas story.
Die Hard This is a classic movie that wasn’t originally considered a Christmas classic. However, some fans consider the 1988 thriller one of their favorite holiday movies.
In the film, New York City police officer John McClain (bruce willy) reunited with estranged wife (Bonnie Bedelia) at her office Christmas Eve party in Los Angeles. After a group of terrorists take his employees hostage, John must rescue them.
Die Hard director John McTiernan It probably wasn’t intended that this action movie would become a Christmas classic. authorLarry Taylor McTiernan details the film’s original intentions in his book John McTiernan: The rise and fall of an action movie icon.
“He didn’t consciously make it a Christmas movie, but he made sure to incorporate elements of it into the tapestry of the film,” Taylor explains. “This will allow the holiday season to follow the action and help relieve some of the stress that comes with intense action.”
