Sacramento deputies arrest man suspected of beheading baby
A Sacramento County father has been arrested on suspicion of beheading his one-year-old son, sheriff’s officials said.
Andrey Demskiy, 28, was arrested and convicted Friday on charges including murder, assault with violence likely to cause serious bodily injury and being a spouse in connection with the child’s death, according to authorities and jail records Injury and other serious crimes. He is being held at the Sacramento County Main Jail and is not eligible for bail.
Sheriff’s deputies responded to a domestic disturbance call early Friday morning at a house in the 7500 block of Versailles Road in Sacramento County. Sheriff’s officials said on social media. A woman outside the home told them her husband, Andrey Demskiy, attacked her and her mother, who was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Deputies then tried to contact Demski, but he refused to open the door, authorities said. Authorities said when they learned a 1-year-old boy was inside the home and possibly injured, officers forced their way in and attempted to detain Demski, but Demski resisted.
When Demski was taken into custody, deputies discovered a gruesome child’s severed head in the bedroom where Demski was located, officials said. Authorities said a knife was used in the crime.
Detectives from the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau were dispatched to the scene. An investigation determined that Demski was involved in a domestic violence incident with his wife and mother-in-law, and that Demski decapitated his son as soon as they left the home, authorities said.
The boy has not been formally identified.
Demski is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
