After the accident, Huger issued a lengthy statement describing her state of mind before the accident.
“Thank you all for your prayers and well wishes during this very scary experience. I am still in shock from last night’s events, but I am grateful to be alive today. Grief comes in waves with the passing of my beloved mother It comes and goes, and as Mother’s Day approaches, it feels more like a tsunami,” she told TMZ in March. “I had dinner with a girlfriend last night and we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on the way home and saw a car coming towards me. I swerved to avoid it. A head-on collision, hitting a barrier and then a tree. I was injured and a little bruised, but I’m thankful I’m still alive! I did get a ticket, one unrelated to the incident, which is understandable. Surprisingly, the car that almost hit me drove away!”
She concluded: “I would like to emphasize that it is important to be aware of your emotional state when driving, and this may serve as a reminder to everyone to use their seat belts. My mother may be my guardian angel, but my seat belts saved my life.
