According to the Wall Street Journal, a new version of Nvidia’s Jetson computer is priced at $249 and is aimed at hobbyists and small businesses looking to take advantage of artificial intelligence applications.
The company says the $249 Jetson Orin Nano Super is nearly twice as fast and efficient as its predecessor and can handle about 70 percent of computing tasks at nearly half the cost.
“Whether you are creating LLM chatbots based on retrieval enhancement generation, building visual AI agents, or deploying AI-based bots, Jetson Orin Nano Super is the ideal retrieval solution,” the company said in a press release.
Although the company faces restrictions in the United States related to selling some hardware in China, Nvidia has confirmed that new Jetson products will be sold in China through local resellers.
Nvidia’s move represents a shift from the company’s usual focus on large enterprises and AI startups that have large budgets for AI infrastructure. These customers typically spend significant amounts of money on hardware to develop and run their AI models.
