Mariah Carey forced to cancel two more Christmas shows due to flu: ‘I’m so upset about it’

Mariah Carey has been forced to cancel two more shows on her Christmas tour after coming down with the flu.
On Friday, the 55-year-old singer announced that she felt too sick to perform and canceled shows this weekend at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and UBS Arena in Belmont, New York.
“Newark and Belmont – I was hoping for better news, but unfortunately I am still ill and have to cancel tonight and Sunday’s shows. I am very upset about this and thank you for your support. Love You, the host,” Carey wrote in a statement. Posts are shared on X (formerly Twitter).

On Wednesday, the five-time Grammy winner canceled a concert at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, just hours before she was set to take the stage.

“Pittsburgh, I’m sorry to say that I have the flu. Unfortunately, I have to cancel tonight’s show, which breaks my heart. I love you all so much,” said Kelly, known as the “Queen of Christmas.” X reads.
Carey is next scheduled to perform a concert at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on December 17, which will be the final stop on her tour. She has yet to announce whether the show will also be canceled.

The latest cancellation comes after Carey’s hit single “All I Want for Christmas Is You” regained its No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 chart for a 15th consecutive week this year. The iconic Christmas song, released in 1994, has topped the charts every year since 2019 and has sold over 10 million copies.

Last week, a fight broke out between fans while she was performing “All I Want for Christmas Is You” in St. Louis, Missouri. In the video, two men can be seen fighting, with a woman trying to stop one of the men.
However, Carey seemed unfazed by the altercation and continued belting out the song, eventually ending the show.

In August, Kelly officially announced that she would embark on a 20-city tour across the country to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the release of her album “Merry Christmas”, with the lead song “All I Want For Christmas”. The tour kicks off on November 6 at the Yaamava Theater in Highland, California.
In an interview with People magazine in April, Carey shared details of her tour plans, telling the outlet, “I’ve been working on it day and night.”

“I work with some incredible people on this, like Miss Debbie Allen,” she added. Allen won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for the 1980s TV show “Famous,” and served as creative director and choreographer for a national tour during the Christmas season
“I’ll be singing some songs I’ve never sung before, some duets,” Carey teased in an interview with People magazine. “I have to keep some surprises.”
