Texas lieutenant governor sends message to blue-state leaders resisting immigration laws: ‘Cheer up, Buttercup’
As President-elect Donald Trump prepares to be re-inaugurated, many Democratic leaders have vowed to resist the incoming administration’s immigration plans.
While some leaders, including New York Mayor Eric Adams, have changed their tune on Trump’s upcoming agenda, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick issued a message to other blue city and state leaders warn.
“Every blue state governor and mayor who does this: You better cheer up, Buttercup. I don’t care if you’re a man or a woman. We’re serious in Texas, Tom Homan is serious, Trump President Trump means it, too,” Patrick said Thursday on “The Ingraham Angle.”

While many Democratic leaders have vowed to resist Trump’s immigration agenda, top party officials including Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and New York Mayor Eric Adams appear to have changed their tune on the president-elect’s plans.
Adams revealed that he and Trump have “the same goals” on the issue of illegal immigration.
“His goals are the same as mine,” Adams said. “We cannot allow dangerous individuals to repeatedly commit acts of violence in cities across America. This cannot be a safe haven for violent individuals. You have the right, the privilege, to live in this country, and so do those who want to live in this country. .
Pritzker said he agreed with “border czar” appointee Tom Homan as part of the historic mass deportation campaign launched under the Border Protection Act. The incoming Trump administration.
“Violent criminals who are undocumented and convicted of violent crimes should be deported,” Pritzker said at a news conference, according to FOX 32 Chicago. “I don’t want them in my state and I think they Shouldn’t be in America.”
Despite Pritzker and Adams’ comments, many Democratic lawmakers and officials across the country have pledged to either not cooperate with the incoming Trump administration’s mass deportation plans or to boycott them entirely.
