Tiger Woods and son Charlie to return to PNC Championship

Tiger Woods and his 15-year-old son Charlie will return to the PNC Championship for the first time since the British Open in July and his sixth back surgery three months ago.
Since 2020, Woods has competed in the 36-hole PNC Championship with Charlie every year.
“Playing together is something we look forward to, and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family,” Woods said.
The PNC Championship will be held on December 21-22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, with 20 teams participating. New to this year’s tournament are Fred Couples and stepson Hunter Hannemann, and Trevor Immelman and son Jacob .
Because the event is sanctioned by PGA Tour Champions, Woods will be able to ride in the carriage, which is crucial to him. Last week, he opted to sit out the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, which he hosts, because he said his game wasn’t sharp enough to compete with the top 40 players in the world.
Woods made a Masters record in April by making his 24th consecutive cut, but he has failed to make the cut in the other three majors. In September, he underwent a microdiscectomy to relieve pain in his leg, his sixth surgery on his lower back.
The biggest victory came after fusion surgery in 2017, when he won the Tour Championship a year later and his fifth Masters title in 2019, his 15th major championship. The victory, at the Zozo Championship in Japan in the fall of 2019, tied Sam Snead’s PGA Tour record of 82 career wins.
But there’s no indication of how many games he could play in 2025.
“Whether my commitment going forward is monthly, yeah, I can say that again,” Woods said last week. “But I really don’t know. I’m just trying to recover and still get stronger and better and feel better and really give myself the best chance going into next year.”
Competitors at the PNC Championship include 13-year-old Will McGee (son of Annika Sorenstam) and 89-year-old Gary Player. Nelly Korda is back on the court playing alongside her father, former tennis Grand Slam champion Petr Korda.
