Mike Tyson faces $1.5 million lawsuit over alleged contract breach, fight against Jake Paul

Legendary boxer Mike Tyson broke records last month in his highly anticipated return to the ring against Jake Paul.
However, one company said he had broken other things, leading to a massive lawsuit filed at London’s High Court on Monday.
Tyson and his company Tyrannic are being sued by Medier, the promoter of bookmaker Rabona, seeking damages of more than $1.5 million, alleging Tyson unfairly terminated their promotion agreement in March.

Tyson accused Medill of violating an agreement they signed in January, the lawsuit said. But the company has now refuted that claim.
“The real reason why Mr. Tyson and Overlord hastily and illegally terminated their contract is because Mr. Tyson agreed. [to] A Netflix-sponsored deal to take on influencer Jake Paul,” the lawsuit states.

According to the lawsuit, Medier seeks the return of more than $800,000 in fees paid to Tyson “for no services provided,” as well as $729,000 in “wasted production and promotional costs.”
Although Tyson lost the sanctioned fight, which went down in his professional boxing record books, he reportedly received a $20 million bonus for his fight with Paul.
More than 72,000 fans watched the game at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, with millions more watching on Netflix.
