Panthers prospect Jonathan Brooks tore ACL three weeks after recovering from same injury

The Carolina Panthers’ concerns about rookie running back Jonathan Brooks were confirmed on Monday when the second-round pick tore his ACL again, sidelining him for the remainder of the season.
It’s a sad situation for Brooks, a second-round pick out of Texas, as he tore his right front leg in his final season with the Longhorns while recovering from a tear last year, the team announced Monday. Cruciate ligament.
Brooks only returned to the Panthers three weeks ago, but extensive rehab will once again be the plan after repairing his ligament.

The injury was non-contact, and Brooks tried to cut to the left and land on his right foot, but he quickly went down because he felt something was wrong. It was just the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Brooks tried to make his way to the sideline under his own power, but he fell to the turf and needed help getting off the field.
The running back tore his ACL in November 2023 during Texas’ run in the College Football Playoff, which was a crushing blow not only to the Longhorns, but to Brooks’ draft stock It was also a heavy blow.
Brooks totaled 1,139 yards rushing, 286 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 11 games with the Longhorns before being injured in 2023, his first year as a starting back in college football.

Many expected him to be a first-round pick due to his success in Austin last year, but an ACL injury dropped him to the second round, with the Panthers selecting him with the 46th overall pick. The team knows he needs time to continue rehabbing, and the Panthers are willing to help him through that process.
There were questions about whether Brooks should play this season as Carolina struggled again after going 2-15 last season.
But Brooks made his NFL debut in Week 12 against the Kansas City Chiefs, though Chuba Hubbard remains the offense’s leading back.
